~The IRIS Common Burial Site~

-This common burial site and service is designed for infants who have passed away at Rice County District One Hospital prior to the gestational age of 20 weeks.

-This burial option is an alternative for parents who choose not to do a private burial or cremation.

-With this type of burial, many babies are buried at one time in a single burial container.

-Moving an infant once the burial has taken place is not possible.

-Private or individual marking of the gravesite is not possible.

-The IRIS common burial is provided at no cost thanks to District One Hospital, Boldt Funeral Home, and Infants Remembered In Silence, Inc. (IRIS).

-IRIS holds graveside Memorial Services in May and October. You, your family, and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend.

-If you wish to be notified of the burial service, fill out the consent forms completely making sure to provide us with your name and address.

-Parents who wish, will be notified of the memorial service date. This information is also published in the Faribault Daily News.

-Some families prefer to take part in the common burial and wish to hold a private service at the gravesite. This is a common request. You are welcome to have a service with as many people in attendance as you would like. Some parents feel comfortable leading the service themselves, while others are more comfortable having a member of the clergy preside over the service.

-If you choose to hold a private service, we ask that you notify the IRIS office at: (507) 334-4748 and/or Maple Lawn Cemetery at: (507) 334-5461. This will eliminate more than one service being held at the same time.

-Maple Lawn Cemetery is open during daylight hours only.

-The IRIS burial site is located at Maple Lawn Cemetery, 1917 NW 4th St. Faribault, MN 55021, Section A (in the southwest corner of the cemetery near Chief Taopi).
